Healing through the Spine

The Dorn Method

What is the Dorn Method?

The DORN Method is a holistic technique and simple self-help method for the gentle and safe alignment of the spine, the pelvis and other joints. It can stimulate the self healing of your body helping:

  • Back pain, Neck pain, Headaches, Migraines, Sciatica, Scoliosis.
  • Joint problems like hip, shoulder, knee, elbow, ankle and jaw pains.

The spine is connected to all our different vital organs, that explains why the positive effects can improve

  • Constipation, Colic, Cystitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Sinusitis, Infertility, Depression, Tinitus, Vertigo, Tiredness, Asthma and many more.

The DORN Method has its origins in southern Germany developed by Dieter Dorn almost 40 years ago.

It consists of a range of unique manual techniques, movements and exercises allowing joints and vertebrae to gently slip back into their natural position without clicking or crunching. It can alleviate acute or chronic pain in the muscular-sclelatal system, calm the nervous system, support organic weaknesses and bring the body back into balance.

The DORN Method works on multiple layers of self, all influencing each other and faciliating transformation. The physical structure, the organic connection, the energetic flow and the emotional balance. Through working on all these layers by inlcuding meridian energy points, emotional blockages and affirmations combined with movement techniques and self help methods we can truly call this approach holistic, meaning seeing a person as a whole, bringing the whole being back to balance.

Simple SELF-HELP EXERCISES help to maintain the alignment so that two to three sessions (one hour) with a DORN Practitioner are often sufficient to bring the body in its natural balance.

The DORN Method is greatly complemented with a BREUSS MASSAGE.

                              .

How does it work?

Unique to the DORN Method is the use of MOVEMENT to allow natural alignment to take place. In a dynamic motion action the DORN user moves parts of the body, the muscles release. Combined with offered resistance by the practitioner, the body can allow for self correction. Here the client works together with the Dorn practitioner, which feels empowering to be part of ones own self-healing. The process is pleasant and the effects long term. Simple self-help exercises contribute ideally to the process of self-healing

Who can benefit?

The technique is gentle and safe and has no side effects, that’s why it is applicable to ALL AGES, even babies.

In our sedentary lifestyle back problems are a common condition, which seem to start already in early ADULTHOOD. Sitting, slouching, driving, computers etc contribute greatly to an unbalanced structure. Poor posture, acute pains and chronic conditions develop. In all these cases the DORN Method is a great intervention with the trilogy of manual techniques with movement, self-help exercises and lifestyle education. For the elderly the Dorn Method is a safe method for optimal health and quality of life into old age.

The healthy development of a CHILD is controlled by the nervous system, which can function efficiently in a balanced body. Long sitting, carrying school bags and ‘cool’ postures often result in juvenile scoliosis. An early spine management is essential for a balanced development. Parents can learn simple techniques to support the process.

PREGNANT MUMS can prepare for a happy pregnancy and baby with the DORN-BREUSS Method especially in the first and second trimester. An aligned body is essential for a pleasant pregnancy. It prevents discomfort and pain, pre-and postnatal. Most importantly it offers the baby an ideal environment for development and birth.  In a balanced pelvis the uterus is able to enlarge symmetrically and offers the foetus an unrestricted space and an ideal positioning for growth, brain stimulation and delivery.

Difficult or prolonged births often result in misalignment of joints and vertebrae in BABIES (and moms). Colicky babies for example can benefit from gentle alignment.

The Breuss Massage

The Breuss Massage is a sensitive energetic manual massage along the spine to dissolve physical, energetic and emotional blockages. It stretches the spine and decompresses the vertebrae.

Through the use of special St. Johns Wort oil the BREUSS Massage helps the regeneration process of undernourished intervertebral discs. As the Austrian healer Rudolf BREUSS knew  in a worn disc regeneration is possible.

In cases of strong pain or great tension the BREUSS Massage is an ideal preparation for the DORN Method. Or it is a relaxing finish to further stretch and energize the spine.
